The Ophthalmology Discovery and Translational Area (Ophtha DTA) of Roche Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development (p RED) is developing medicines for retinal diseases.
We are seeking highly motivated and talented Discovery Scientist to join Ophthalmology Discovery Group at the Roche p RED Center Basel, Switzerland, to support discovery platforms and lead projects developing innovative medicine.

The opportunity:

  • You are performing microscopy image processing and analysis, including AI-based image segmentation and cell-type quantification, using tools like Image J, Cell Profiler, and Imaris.
  • You are using in vitro and in vivo models of ocular disease to develop discovery platforms and identify and validate potential drug targets and therapy strategies.

  • You are committed to proactive and strategic collaboration with a team of experts to advance exploratory and preclinical projects, documenting methods, results, and writing reports rigorously.
  • You are communicating scientific progress through internal meetings and publications in peer-reviewed journals and, depending on your expertise, contributing to project management, external collaborations, and supervising postdoctoral fellows.

Who are you:

You are someone who wants to influence your development. You are looking to be part of a dynamic and growing organization where you have the opportunity to pursue your interests across functions, and continuously learn and innovate. You think outside the box, show high commitment to translational science and work with passion.

  • You hold a Ph D in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, biotechnology, synthetic biology, or a related relevant field, with postdoctoral experience preferred.

  • You have expertise in ocular AAV transduction (a plus) and are well-organized and committed to formal record-keeping.
  • You are a team player who fosters a collaborative spirit with other scientists and colleagues, with excellent organization skills and proficiency in multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
