Due to our continued growth, we are now hiring an Operational Excellence and Strategic Project Manager for our team based in Lachen, Switzerland. This role requires two expertise, on one side experience in Operational excellence as the role requires infusing the lean methodology into the factory and also experience in managing engineering projects.
As the subject matter expert for the Lachen Manufacturing Plant, the Operational Excellence and Strategic Project Manager collaborates with all departments to support the business to improve and simplify existing processes. This role delivers sustainable operational improvements in safety, quality, and productivity by leading and managing large-scale projects and teams, and additionally ensures that new processes contain and use continuous improvement methodologies.
The Operational Excellence and Strategic Project Manager will lead the site Opex strategy and team. Additionally, s/he will provide support and resources, as necessary, to support the growth of the Continuous Improvement culture at the site while importing and exporting ideas from the global Operational Excellence community. On the project side, s/he will be responsible for delivering end-to-end projects in connection with the global engineering team.
Main responsibilities:
Act as the single point of contact responsible for partnering with key members of Plant leadership team to identify, prioritize, plan, execute, and monitor the Company’s Operating Model ensuring application of sound project management principles and consistency with company strategy and goals.
Responsible for facilitating the development and governance of the Factory Operational Masterplan (OMP)
Subject Matter Expert who leads in the use of the Lean tools with a comprehensive knowledge of the philosophy, utilizes PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) and DMAIC (Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control) methodologies to successfully lead and direct completion of continuous improvement projects within a given timeframe to meet the department or facility goals in productivity, quality, efficiency, and safety.
Manages the team of Opex professionals in driving best practices in Opex and engineering.
Communicates overall status of Operational Excellence agenda to site/regional/global manufacturing and business leadership teams.
Leads manufacturing, engineering, facilities, warehouse operations, production planning, and quality teams in CI disciplines and processes to accomplish assigned stated CI projects, cost reduction and process improvements.
Through active participation and shop floor engagement, supports proactive performance management and the daily monitoring of KPIs.
Supports weekly and monthly performance monitoring, analysis, and reporting as well as monthly reporting of completed LEAN and CI projects.
Responsible for building, coaching, training, and assessing Manufacturing teams on Operational Excellence toolbox, Green-/Blackbelt certification, project management skills, and process improvement initiatives with the overarching goal of instilling a permanent CI culture in the organization.
Implement and maintain the Prestige Performance System at the site.
Leads end-to-end site’s strategic projects autonomously by engaging with the right stakeholders, delivering pristine results on time and within budget.
Manages site CAPEX budget and aligns with the global team on priorities.
Communicates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project execution (global engineering team, purchasing team, suppliers, vendors…)
Supports Commercialization efforts through personal engagement to optimize new and changed products and technologies.
Supports Value Realization and Optimization (‘VR & O’) efforts by providing resources and leading site efforts for key corporate VR & O initiatives.
Hires, develops, assesses, and promotes the team members to ensure efficient succession planning.
Qualifications
Master’s degree ideally in Manufacturing / Engineering or Business
5-10 years of experience in Operations, Supply Chain or hands-on Continuous Improvement required.
Proficiency in TPM Autonomous Maintenance steps 1-3 is preferred.
Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification or comparable is preferred
Proven successful manufacturing OPEX experience in similar industries
Proven track record of building, delivering, managing, and achieving a plan that would support business performance
Proven track record of leading end-to-end strategic projects in Manufacturing, NPDI (New Product Development and Innovation), or similar functions.
Develops, implements, and manages change
Strong problem-solving skills including situational analysis. Trains, leads, and facilitates multiple team Kaizen events
Ability to drive process improvement and effectiveness through simplification and holistic, end-to-end optimization
Excellent conceptual and analytical skills, high degree of autonomy, flexibility and penchant for teamwork
Strong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail
Good communication skills, team player, detail-oriented, proactive, driven to deliver results, and adaptable
Strong negotiation skills and the ability to confidently lead and inspire people through change in an agile, fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
Exceptional presentation and verbal/written communication skills
Business level speaking in German and English required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, Power Point, Power BI, Share Point. Advanced knowledge of Exce
