Senior Data Scientist - Machine Learning Platform / Data Science Platform Team

About the role

King makes great games that offer fun, bite-size entertainment experiences for everyone to enjoy.

We are looking for an experienced data scientist to join our Data Science Platform team, which is part of the Machine Learning platform organization. The team consists of a mix of very experienced data scientists and ML Engineers / developers. The team's main focus is providing data scientists in the game teams at King with efficient and reliable tooling to boost their productivity, as well as catering to the explorative phases of building machine learning models. We have a tight collaboration with other teams in the ML organization which have responsibility for the later phases of the machine learning life-cycle.

One of the team’s main product is an internal Notebook platform built on top of the open source Jupyter projects, but extended and customized to integrate with other internal tooling, but also to help data scientists establish good workflows for other aspects of their job, such a CI/CD solutions when building internal packages, training on standard methodologies inside King etc.

We are looking for a great teammate who wants to help to empower our user base, which is counted in the hundreds of users, both by hands on building solutions but also identifying what recommended workflows should be.

We strive to not reinvent the wheel but rather to use existing open source and commercial products when possible, but often also need to write code to properly integrate both internal and external solutions in an effective manner for our users.

Skills to create thrills

• Good understanding and hands-on experience with Python
• Good understanding of the day to day life of a Data Scientist / ML Engineer
• Dev Ops experience, such as CI/CD solutions and infrastructure as code
• Knowledge in how to write services and create reusable libraries
• Self-starter with a great drive and a curious and inquisitive mind-set
• Willing to step outside your comfort zone to broaden your skills and learn new technologies
• Highly collaborative work style and open to share your knowledge, receiving and giving feedback, performing code reviews and so on
• You will need to be able to work independently on complex problems and be able to clearly communicate your ideas and solutions.

Bonus points

• Knowledge in R
• Experience writing plugins/extensions for Jupyter Lab
• SQL and query optimization skills and good understanding of data modeling techniques
• Containerizing workloads and running these on Kubernetes (GKE)
• Experience with Tensor Flow, Py Torch or any other ML framework
• Experience with Zen ML and/or MLFlow
• Google Cloud Platform including Big Query or experience with other cloud computing provider
