Retail Operations Support & Training Background U-turn is a thriving non-profit that exist to give homeless people the skills to overcome homelessness. Founded in 1997, we believe in life after homelessness. We believe that every homeless individual should have access to an effective pathway that addresses their physical, spiritual and emotional needs so they can leave the streets and become a long-term productive member of society. The position A vacancy has arisen at U-turn for a Retail Operations Support & Training Officer. This is a full-time position based in Cape Town, reporting to the Retail Operations Manager (ROM). The role involves supporting the ROM across all operational activities and onsite training around systems and standard operating procedures. Key areas of responsibility
Supporting the ROM across all operational activities including with new retail site growth and stock procurement.
Developing standard operating procedures and system and conducting onsite training on these to ensure all systems are functioning well.
Streamline value add reporting, monitoring of Area Managers (AM's) feedback reporting and added support mechanism to AM's
Provide oversight around work schedules, in-store promotions and updating of all master sheet data.
Support, oversight and training around daily stocktaking and feedback loops.
Point of Sale (POS) - development, training and updating of POS. Exploring options around moving selected stock over to barcoding .
Develop a simple and friendly loyalty system (working in partnership with ROM and Comms).
Doing onsite store audits with AM's 3-5 times a month and tracking process over the year.
Online marketing including managing all Facebook listed accounts with an updated master list and helping to ensure that product posting quality and standards are met, and helping to build our google ratings and making sure we are ranked and visible online.
Supporting all AM's around Champ related matters such as Champ placement or movements, and Champ discipline.
Experience and skills
Previous experience in the retail sector (essential)
Experience as a duty manager/ assistant manager or a manager in a retail setting (essential)
Ability to work unsupervised and under direction, as part of a team or as an individual and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
Well developed interpersonal skills
Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise
