Job Advert Summary
Purpose of the position:
Provides on-site and hands on Quality Improvement (QI) coaching to partner staff and frontline facility clinicians, as well as Do H programme managers and clinic supervisors (where appropriate). Assists in the development and coordination of QI projects supported by sub-district and district management teams for sustainability. In consultation with the quality improvement coordinator, provides training, monitoring, and evaluation of the CQI programme in the district. Receives guidance and support from and works closely with the operational manager/s and sub-district management teams.
Minimum Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in Nursing Science
  • At least a minimum of three years’ experience in HIV and TB program coordination
  • Formal training in QI and relevant quality improvement certificate or course will offer an added advantage
  • Experience in improvement methodology or process engineering, LEAN or Six Sigma will be an advantage
  • Non-health related Bachelors or Honours degree with at least five years’ experience in improvement methodology or process engineering, LEAN or Six Sigma
  • Able to communicate in English and isi Xhosa is an advantage
  • Registered with a recognised professional body e.g., SANC (where appropriate to primary discipline)
  • Proficiency in computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, and routine database activity, word processing, spread sheet, graphics
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft office, Excel, Power Point, and familiarity with use of applications
  • Demonstrate knowledge of synthesizing information and presentation, knowledge of evaluation designs in HIV programs
  • Valid code 08 driver’s license and flexibility to use own vehicle when necessary
Duties and Responsibilities
Quality Improvement
  • Contribute to the development and execution of multi-facility Quality Improvement (QI) projects with QI leads in order to improve health systems and patient care
  • Conduct (QI) site visit scheduling, coordination and oversight
  • Support facilities to put together QI teams
  • Mentor and support clinic staff in QI projects;
    • Using data to identify gaps in care
    • Identifying underlying causes of the gaps
    • Developing, testing and spreading change ideas to close the gaps
    • Tracking data over time
    • Displaying QI activities and line graphs at the facility
    • Recording QI activities
    • Assists facilities to develop SOP for implementing successful changes

Human Capital Management
  • Developing QI capacity among sub-district health department staff (e.g., programme managers and clinic supervisors when requested), THC and partner staff
  • Continual self-development and keeping up to date with latest developments in the field of HIV, TB and QI
  • Conducting ongoing feed-back and learning session with Do H and THC managers
  • Develop, lead, monitor and report on project related to health information strengthening, including missed appointments HPRS, TIER.Net HTS module utilisation etc.
