Game Reserve Manager (Bela Bela Region) Accredited Ecology / Nature Conservation Degree Essential.
Well established Private Game Reserve Requires an Experienced Reserve Manager.
Minimum Requirements:
The Game Reserve has excellent and well-established Reserve Management Teams who look after the management and implementation of tasks relating to electrified fencing, water and electrical reticulation, roads and dam infrastructure, alien plant, thatch and bush encroachment control, soil erosion reclamation, waste disposal and sewerage management, staff management and training, problem animal control, game and ecological stocking rates and other reserve related activities. All the above require extensive monitoring as the most important direction essential to ensure on-going adaptive management processes are implemented throughout the apply below ha of The Greater Private Game Reserve.
Minimum Requirements:
- RSA Citizens
- Minimum 5 Years BIG 5 Game Reserve Manager Experience
- B-Tech Nature Conservation degree (or similar qualification) with preference to M-Tech applicants
- Minimum 5 years relevant Game Reserve Management Software Experience - Arcview preferred
- Advanced Excel Reporting Skills
- Valid RSA Driver's License
- Reserve management: conservation of animals and plants, ecology, animal population dynamics, supplement feeding program of large herbivores, predator-prey dynamics (lion reserve), security/anti-poaching program, education, aerial game census, game capture, animal well-being, eradication of alien plants, bush encroachment program, controlled burning, firebreaks, sustainable use of water resources, responsible for liaison with Government Department of Environmental Affairs, liaison with other stake holders (garden services, contractors and neighbouring reserves). Represent reserve at numerous conservation organisations (WAG, CAG, Limf, WRSA etc) as well as at local community level e.g. police forums, fire protection associations etc. Previous experience in the NPO milieu an advantage.
- Reserve maintenance: perimeter fence, road network, water reticulation and waste management.
- Personnel management: staff, employment of staff, leave roster, designation of duties, duty rosters, work performance evaluation, disciplinary action, incentives, training, staff well-being, liaison with all staff living on the Reserve.
- Administration: staff management, compilation and management of annual reserve budget, weekly and monthly progress reports, staff attendance register, fleet management, acquirement of operating equipment, debtors and creditors.
- Estate Management: The reserve supports an array of reserve users, and it is vital that the incumbent has previous experience in dealing with multiple shareholders, owners and commercial or timeshare operations. Previous experience in attending and presenting at AGM’s a bonus.
