The Fundamentals Analyst works in Trafigura’s Research Team, reporting to the Head of Oil Research, providing daily support to Trafigura’s trading desks and strategic planning and business development efforts. In this role, the Analyst is expected to provide data-driven market analysis and trading ideas to the trading desks, including building and maintaining fundamentals balances, evaluating project economics, and performing market studies for new business opportunities.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
At least 2-3 years of relevant experience in one or more of the light ends product (LPG, Naphtha or Gasoline)
Comprehensive understanding of the East of Suez products market; some notions of petrochemicals would be a plus
Advanced understanding and command of market drivers, fundamentals, pricing, and oil markets / oil trading terminology
Experience building and maintaining fundamentals models for oil supply and demand, working in time series models, and forecasting
Superior communication (written, oral) skills to formulate complex concepts into actionable trading decisions
Ability to work in a global team, communicate and coordinate effectively with Research Team members on workflows as well as with traders and regional management in other offices.
Excellent organizational skills
Intellectual curiosity and flexibility
Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Excel and the use of advanced functions including VBA
Programming capabilities in Python and its standard libraries and data science packages is preferred
Data visualization experience in Tableau is preferred
Fluency in Microsoft Power Point
Key Responsibilities
Partnering closely with the global research team on global balances, trade flows, arbs and margin models
Oversee the development and distribution of trading-relevant analysis
Routine construction and distribution of price, trade, or fundamental indicators and market views
Manage the automation and analysis of large fundamental or price related data
Calculation of key arbitrage indicators, margins and other trade information
Construction and maintenance of fundamental balances
Oversee the maintenance of key research databases, including turnarounds, production, ship tracking and other information
