Principal Electrical Design Engineer (Low and Medium Voltage)

Role description:
This role will form an integral part of our Global Excellence Centre (GEC) – Arcadis’ centralized and fully integrated project delivery group. Our GEC is made up of more than 3,000 talented individuals working in offices across Romania, India and Philippines, providing Capability, Capacity and a Competitive Advantage across a wide array of unique projects and services, in collaboration with our global businesses.
The MEPF Discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection) in the GECs is comprised of cross-functional teams, that contribute to the development of innovative MEPF solutions that optimize energy efficiency, sustainability, and occupant comfort. Our ability to effectively manage projects, assess client needs, and provide technical guidance is crucial in delivering successful outcomes, using the most innovative way of doing computational design

Role accountabilities:
- Design electrical systems for low, medium, and high voltage power distribution, including transformer and generator sizing and selection.
- Perform calculations, create sketches, 3D models, single line diagrams, and final working drawings.
- Plan, organize, and execute projects efficiently, managing budgets, coordinating with other disciplines, and supervising junior engineers or technicians.
- Estimate the budget, resource requirements, and schedule for the entire electrical scope of the project.
- Produce comprehensive engineering documents, including equipment specifications, reports, and presentations.
- Adhere to company standards and procedures for design and verification.
- Participate in design and client meetings to understand project requirements, and seek clarification from the internal team as needed.
- Ensure electrical designs comply with safety, environmental, sustainability, and energy efficiency regulations, following industry standards and guidelines.
- Implement national and international standards in electrical design, along with client specifications and project-specific requirements.
Mandatory:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Medium and High Voltage Engineering.
- Proficient in design software such as Auto CAD and calculation software like ETAP; capable of performing calculations using Excel.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design.
- Advanced English skills.
- Experience in implementing quality procedures to ensure high-quality design deliverables.
- Extensive knowledge of norms and standards related to medium and high voltage electrical design.
- In-depth understanding of energy and sustainability regulations and industry best practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, proactivity, analytical abilities and planning skills.
- Comprehensive leadership skills and prior experience managing large-scale projects.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with clients, architects, project managers, and other stakeholders throughout the design process.
- Demonstrated interest in personal and professional growth within a challenging, rewarding, and competitive professional environment. Keen interest in mentoring junior engineers.
Nice to have:
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Proficient in specialized electrical software such as Revit, ETAP, EPLAN, Amtech, and Intelec.
- Experience in building electrical design.
- Ability to think creatively and identify opportunities for automation or innovation.
