The position of Prepress Specialist in the field of Digiprint is a crucial role in the pre-production phase, ensuring the standardized transition of graphic designs to print-ready files. This position demands a meticulous attention to detail, technical proficiency in design software, and a deep understanding of printing processes. The Prepress Specialist collaborates closely with graphic designers, printers, and other stakeholders to guarantee the accurate and high-quality reproduction of packaging materials.
Your ‘day to day’:
File Preparation & Technical Expertise:
Participate in briefing sessions, with customers addressing projects and customer expectations.
Perform necessary tasks for the good reception of files and artworks, perform incoming check for files integrity and ensure pre-press clarification.
Audit files and artworks received in all levels of complexity via graphic software to ensure necessary technical requirements for further production and prototyping activities.
Perform pre-press work which is necessary for purchasing printing and converting tools such as printing plates, embossing/debossing, and die-cutting tools.
Organize & prepare files and respective colors for production as defined in standard procedures and be responsible for new updated procedures.
Manage color consistency throughout the prepress workflow, utilizing color profiles and calibration tools.
Work closely with design teams to achieve accurate color reproduction on various packaging materials.
Generate and review digital files to identify and rectify any issues before finalizing print-ready files.
Troubleshoot technical issues related to file compatibility, color discrepancies, and printing equipment.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with graphic designers, print operators, and stakeholders to understand project requirements and expectations.
Provide technical guidance to design teams to optimize files for print and address any prepress-related concerns.
Collaborate with designers and clients to resolve any issues related to file formatting, resolution, or color accuracy.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and maintenance, to implement process changes and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Train team members organizing coaching training sessions related to digital printing technology industry and the activities supported at MDC.
Quality Control & Reporting:
Implement rigorous quality control processes to identify and rectify any errors in prepress files as well as in the platform shared with MDC stakeholders.
Conduct prepress checks and inspections to ensure the final printed mockups product meets the desired quality standards.
Develop and maintain process documentation, including standard operating procedures, work instructions, and technical specifications.
Who we’re looking for:
University degree in Graphic Arts related.
5-7 years of proven professional experience in packaging industry, prepress area, with offset, flexography, or gravure.
Advance knowledge with prepress software, such as Artpro and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design).
Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with the ability to deliver through others holding people engaged and accountable.
In-depth knowledge of color management, printing processes, and prepress best practices.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
Willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Fluent level of English in both oral and written.
