Overview:
We are seeking a Cloud Engineer with strong Azure experience to join our dynamic team. As a Cloud Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable and secure cloud infrastructures tailored to the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry’s specific needs. This role is key in modernizing and optimizing our infrastructure to support advanced AEC software solutions.
In this role, you will work closely with development teams and product managers to ensure that our cloud environments meet enterprise performance, reliability, and security standards. If you have prior Dev Ops or Sys Admin experience, this is an ideal opportunity to leverage those skills as a foundational stepping stone into a Cloud Engineer role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure to support AEC software applications, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Development, Dev Ops, Sys Admins, and Product Management to align cloud architecture with business needs and workflows.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain cloud resources primarily on Azure, but with potential integrations into AWS platforms as needed.
- Automate cloud infrastructure using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Cloud Formation to ensure efficiency and repeatability.
- Migrate legacy applications and systems to the cloud, optimizing for performance, cost, and compliance across various environments.
- Monitor cloud environments using Azure Monitor, AWS Cloud Watch, or other relevant tools to track performance, availability, and security incidents.
- Support the implementation of AEC industry software, such as BIM (Building Information Modeling), CAD, and other project management tools, by optimizing the cloud infrastructure for these workflows.
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate the deployment of infrastructure and software, ensuring smooth delivery and updates.
Key Metrics to Track:
- Uptime: Maintain high availability for cloud infrastructure.
- Cost optimization: Ensure efficient use of cloud resources to control operational costs.
- Application performance: Optimize cloud infrastructure to meet performance benchmarks.
- Security incidents: Minimize and quickly respond to security threats.
- Infrastructure scalability: Ensure that cloud systems can scale effectively to meet growing business needs.
Responsibilities:
- 3+ years of experience managing cloud services on Azure, with solid experience in cloud infrastructure design.
- Proven experience in designing and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure for enterprise-scale applications.
- Hands-on experience with cloud architecture best practices, including security, scalability, and performance optimization.
- Experience in Dev Ops or Sys Admin roles, with a focus on automation and infrastructure management in cloud environments.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud automation tools
- Experience with Azure Dev Ops or similar tools for cloud deployment.
Nice to Have:
- Kubernetes and container orchestration experience in cloud environments.
- Experience with multi-cloud environments and cloud cost management.
- Knowledge or hands-on experience with AEC industry software such as BIM, CAD, or similar platforms hosted in the cloud.
- Experience in cloud migration projects, transitioning on-premise applications to Azure or AWS.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Strong understanding of cloud security principles, including Identity and Access Management (IAM), encryption, and network security on both Azure and AWS.
- Proficiency in scripting languages
- Ability to troubleshoot complex cloud environments and resolve infrastructure-related issues effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with internal teams, including developers and product managers, as well as external stakeholders.
- Fluency in English (oral and written) with the ability to produce clear technical documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on automation, optimization, and scalability.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- Ability to adapt to new environments quickly and stay updated with evolving cloud technologies.
Nice to Have:
- Certifications: Azure Solutions Architect or similar.
- Familiarity with Dev Ops methodologies, including continuous integration and delivery practices.
- Project management skills or experience working in Scrum/Agile teams.
