The Digital Consumer Engagement Products portfolio plays a critical role in delivering PMI’s Smoke-Free Future. We are enabling digital services to our consumers and retailers by building platforms to communicate our vision to broader society. Together with talent from multiple business and technology functions across our footprint, we are delivering a premium experience for our consumers.
As a Backend Software Engineer in Device domain, you will have the opportunity to build high value, differentiating and impactful solutions and applications that will interface with our customers and support the development, production, and user experience of our products.
The ideal candidate would be an enthusiastic self-starter with deep expertise in complex back-end structures capable of working with different integrated systems.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computers Engineering or Software Engineering or related field with appropriate experience in backend solutions - Minimum of 4 years of proven experience as a back-end software developer and experience in developing cloud-enabled products
- Experienced in Node.js (Javascript / Typescript) and with a basic understanding of SQL among others
- Experience in software design patterns and architectures, Hands-on experience with the AWS cloud solution and services (VPC, EC2, Lambda, RDS, Dynamo DB, IAM)
- Experience in API design and implementation
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as code solutions – Terraform
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines – Jenkins PMI Internal
- Experience with Docker
- Good understanding of microservice architecture
- Proven experience in source code versioning tools, e.g. Bitbucket or GIT
- Strong knowledge and advocate of clean code principles
- Knowledge on design and implementation of both relational and non-relation databases
- Knowledge of industry standard system integration techniques and protocols
- Experienced with software development methodologies, namely Agile practices
- Strong interpersonal skills including creative thinking, attention to detail, collaboration, teamwork, and a drive to learn and succeed

HOW WILL YOU MAKE HISTORY WITH US?

As a Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and supporting complex engineering solutions - You will be working with multiple technologies, developing Consumer Engagement solutions. This requires a strong knowledge of cloud computing back-end technologies, integration
- You will work with Agile Processes that are adapted to the team’s and project’s needs
- You will be collaborating cross-functionally on feature design, architectural decisions, and assessing technical debt
- You will be able to challenge yourself and expand your knowledge on reliable software architecture, programming languages and new emergent technologies
- You will ensure excellent code quality from both a functional and non-functional requirements perspective and enforce best practices by communicating with team members and holding each other accountable
- You will develop code that is implemented following security best practices
- We operate on a true Dev Ops model where we support the code we build and deploy
