This role will provide the opportunity to work closely with experienced engineers to gain hands-on experience in the cybersecurity and cryptographic fields, focusing on compliance and technical excellence. The Cryptographic Software Engineerwill assist in the development, testing, and documentation of cryptographic modules and systems in compliance with Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS). The role requires a keen attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a passion for cybersecurity and technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the FIPS 140-3 certification process for cryptographic modules.
Assist in building, testing, and maintaining RPM packages for various cryptographic libraries.
Collaborate with senior engineers and external labs to write and review technical documentation, ensuring clarity and compliance with standards.
Work with Alma Linux, Cent OS Stream, or RHEL in a development and testing environment.
Contribute to the security engineering team by applying knowledge of cryptographic concepts, such as encryption, key exchange, and hashing.
Learn and apply best practices in cybersecurity, specifically relating to cryptographic libraries like Open SSL and Gnu TLS.
Requirements
Must-Have Qualifications:
Proficiency in C/C++.
Experience or knowledge in building RPM packages.
Basic knowledge of mathematics and cybersecurity concepts.
Experience with Alma Linux, Cent OS Stream, or RHEL.
Strong proficiency in spoken and written English.
High attention to detail and ability to work with technical documentation.
A passion for writing and reviewing technical materials.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
Experience with debugging tools (e.g., GDB, VS Code).
Familiarity with Open SSL, NSS, Libgcrypt, Gnu TLS.
Understanding of cryptographic concepts, including encryption, key exchange, hashing, PKI, entropy, and random number generators (RNGs).
Knowledge of encrypted protocols (e.g., SSH, IPsec, TLS).
