Are you interested in being involved in the biggest, data-driven transformation of transport solutions in history? We are in the middle of our digitalization journey, and you are welcome to join and help us drive analytics and artificial intelligence initiatives which enable new business models.
You will lead a team of data professionals who develop data pipeline and industrialize data &AI solutions with Dev Ops and MLOps pipelines. You will work with the latest technology and ways of working, focusing on developing your technical skills as well as growing the members of your team.
Data is a function within Volvo Group Digital & IT with the goal to unlock the power of data and AI for the full Volvo Group to become a fully data-driven company! With data as the core component of our transformation journey, we will make the Volvo Group 2030 vision happen. We will take care of all aspects of data and AI, including quality assurance, documentation, availability, preparation, and consumption through BI, analytics, and machine learning. We have an ambitious transformation ahead, with the implementation of the Data Layer in Azure as well as the reinforcement of Data Governance and Data Management across the entire Group. Who are you?
We believe you want to take your career to the next level, working with amazing people around the world. To be successful in this position, we believe you have a university degree or equivalent, and several years of experience as a data engineering practitioner, as well as experience in leadership in line organizations or projects. To succeed in this role, it is beneficial if you are experienced and understand technologies for the field like databases, data lakes, and data pipelines. You have knowledge in leading technologies and frameworks such as Spark/Databricks, CD/CI, Data Ops, MLOps, as well as more traditional ETL approaches and tools. You are experienced in the data engineering domain development as a practitioner that keeps up to date with the latest developments. It is beneficial if you have practiced and applied Machine Learning and AI Engineering from development to production-ready solutions.
The right candidate will be able to think and act strategically but also operate and implement change tactically when required, dealing effectively with ambiguity, and managing changing priorities. You should be passionate about driving strategic and technological transformation in a business-focused, fact-based, and collaborative way to achieve real impact. This role requires solid communication skills and a passion for leading, inspiring, and developing people.
In addition to this, you are a passionate believer in continuous learning. You should feel energized by working both independently and interdependently, have proven skills in cross-functional collaboration, and thrive in managing, fostering, and enabling both the perform and the transform angles of the job.

What’s in it for you?
As a Chapter Lead, you will be the line manager for our data engineers in Poland and will directly coach and develop them. You will be involved in hands-on work focusing on data analytics initiatives, from data onboarding to operationalization of advanced analytics and AI to realization, with best practice tools and methods. You will be a part of the Data Engineers Chapter management team and report to the Head of Chapter Data Engineers. Your responsibilities will include:
- Building and developing skills, including attracting and developing talents.
- Building the Data Engineering community and enabling knowledge sharing across domains.
- Working as a practitioner in your area of expertise.
- Developing the working methods for Data Engineering.
- Securing external input and best practice sharing in the community.
- Managing capacity planning and new requests for Data Engineers.
