Waipuna Hospice has a high profile in the Bay of Plenty for providing specialist community palliative care. Our geographical reach covers Waihi Beach to Otamarakau and while our focus is on hospice-at-home, we also have an established inpatient unit and we support a large community team. These services are funded through Te Whatu Ora contracts, fundraising and income from our charity retail shops.

Job Description
ABOUT THE JOB
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Chaplain / Spiritual Care Coordinator Team Member to join our team as a Locum. This position will work closely with our Manager of Family Support to provide a wide range of functions including the support and well-being for patients and family / whanau.
The purpose of this position is to facilitate spiritual support and well-being for patients and family / whanau. Provide leadership, mentoring and advice in relation to their provision of spiritual support for patients, family / whanau.

ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • The ability and stamina to minister to patients with life limiting illnesses and their family
  • The ability and desire to work with clergy and volunteers of varying faith backgrounds
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in empathy and compassion
  • Able to effectively articulate and support spiritual care perspective when working with personnel/ teams from other disciplines
  • Facilitation and teaching
  • Ideally has a qualification in relevant field (e.g. Theological or Chaplaincy qualifications)
  • Ideally has had experience working in the Health Sector
  • Exceptional ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of people.
  • You will also be self-motivated, have excellent organisational and time management skills with an ability to work with a variety of people.
  • Ideally you will have had experience working in a Palliative care and/or not for profit environment.
  • A current driver’s licence essential.
