Westland Milk Products is a well-known New Zealand end to end dairy manufacturer based in the beautiful South Island. The Opportunity:
Based on the West Coast of the South Island in beautiful Hokitika, we require an Analytical Scientist to to join us, to work on the continual development, calibration, validation, utilisation and accreditation of analytical methods required for supporting the successful operation of Westland Milk's R&D analytical lab.
The Analytical Scientist will participate in the scoping, implementation and ongoing activities required for specific business projects and programme of works; including but not limited to Commercial Products Grading Tests, Nutritional Validations, Ingredient Monitoring, Product Shelf Life, Product Homogeneity and Product Stability Studies. The role will also be responsible for carrying out analytical testing, performing method development and analytical method transfers on and between analytical equipment, included but not limited to HPLC, ICP-MS, and LCP-MS.

Candidates will possess great communication skills and will be comfortable working alone or as part of a small team. You will pride yourself on attention to detail and work only to the highest standards with a commitment to quality and exceptional customer service.
To sum up, ideally you will possess:

Tertiary / post-graduate qualifications, preferably in Analytical Chemistry or Biochemistry
A good track-record with analytical skills (especially method development) with LC-MS, GC-MS, ICP-MS, ICP-OES, HPLC and NIR
Proven practical experience in a Quality Assurance, Food or Dairy Laboratory
A practical hands-on experimentalist approach
A commitment to quality and customer service
A desire to live and work in Hokitika
Eligibility to work in New Zealand

This is a great opportunity to be responsible for carrying out the development of new analytical methods for all equipment contained within the analytical lab while reviewing existing methods in order to optimise the laboratory operations. You will monitor all substances found in ingredients or final products ensuring minimal risk to Westland Milk Products.
