Summary:
The U.S. Embassy in Rabat is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Telecommunication Technician in the Information Management Section.

The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)


Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (one month) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties

Incumbent will ensure proper operations of all unclassified telephone and radio systems at the U.S. embassy in Rabat and will provide assistance to the consulate in Casablanca. S/he shall provide a broad range of services including installation, maintenance, site surveys, and operational assistance to users and backup the telecommunication technician at post.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Two years of experience in installation, operation, maintenance and repair of telephone and radio systems is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:


  • Must demonstrate both Knowledge and work experience in the following areas: safety practices and procedures, electronic and telecommunications theories and practices, installation, operation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting and repair procedures and techniques: Moroccan, and international telephone and telecommunication standards and requirements


Education Requirements:


  • High school diploma and Two years vocational training in electrical, electronic, telecommunication theory and technology is required.

  • Supporting documents (i.e., Education certificate) must be included in the application for eligibility purposes.


Evaluations:
LANGUAGE:

  • (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking and Writing English is required (This will be tested)
  • (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking and Writing French is required. (This may be tested)
  • (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking and Writing Arabic is required. (This may be tested)

For positions that require English Level, applications MUST be submitted in

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • Must demonstrate courtesy and customer service.
  • Must hold a driving License category (B).
  • Must have electronic repair skills, including soldering, de-soldering and circuit tracing.
  • Must have ability to manage stress and work under pressure.
  • Must have telephone installation, writing and maintenance skills.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted several times per day.
  • Must have the ability to go up and down ladders repeatedly throughout the day (up to 150 feet at one time).
