Position Overview:

This position will be responsible for teaching both Chemistry and Physics to high school students, using best practices in pedagogy and content knowledge, and ensuring student success by encouraging an enthusiasm for science among our young scientists.

Key Responsibilities:
Instruction:
- Create, plan, and execute Chemistry & Physics lessons that follow the Canadian curriculum.
- Utilize multiple instructional strategies to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Combine technology with real experiments to enhance learning.
- Evaluate and track student progress, providing timely feedback.
- Work with colleagues to design and update curriculum documents.
- Stay current with knowledge in Chemistry and Physics, incorporating new teaching practices.
- Create a safe and positive learner-centered classroom with an emphasis on respect, responsibility, and collaboration.
- Set behavioral norms and manage classroom dynamics effectively.
- Identify and assist students who may require additional help, offering extra resources or tutoring as needed.
- Maintain frequent communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Meet course delivery obligations by attending forums, workshops, and school events.
- Engage in extracurricular activities, clubs, or school projects that enrich the wider school community.
- Foster a love of science among students within and beyond classrooms.
- BSc/BA in Chemistry, Physics, or a related field; B.Ed is an additional advantage (Master’s will be considered).
- Proficiency in English is a must.
- At least two years of teaching experience in Chemistry and/or Physics, preferably at the high school level.
- Technologically savvy, with the capability to integrate technology into teaching.
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Strong team collaboration skills.
- Passionate about engaging in science education and inspiring students.
- Flexible and open to new teaching methods and technology.
- Committed to continuous improvement and professional development.
- Culturally responsive and sensitive to the needs of a diverse student population.
