What you’ll do:
POSITION OVERVIEW:
This role will act as the Project Manager of Supply Chain Management projects and initiatives such as resiliency, continuity, localization, and cost out projects. The Project Manager will act as the primary conduit between the business unit(s) it supports and the SCM organization within Vehicle Group North America. This role will coordinate activities with engineering, manufacturing, operations, suppliers, and other cross-fuctional groups to meet all project timing, cost, and quality requirements. Candidate will also manage SCM tactical implementation of strategic initiatives.
Additionally, this role will lead SCM activities for new project pursuits by collaborating with SCM Program Management teams and Business Unit product line teams. This role will accurately estimate component and tooling costs, manage costed bills of materials, confirm supplier capacity, and develop associated action plans. The position will be responsible for all steps necessary to complete supply chain targeted costs for early pricing of design proposals, business case development, and responses to customer RFQs. They will provide managers and the product line with the information they need to submit competitive proposals and price products appropriately. The Project Manager will assist with early supplier involvement in new product introduction to meet key SCM and BU initiatives and with alignment to commodity management strategies of the Vehicle Group.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
A. Manage SCM deliverables and collaborate with cross-functional team members to ensure sucessful execution of e Powertrain & Fuel SCM projects, including project timing, cost, and quality deliverables.
B. Lead SCM pursuit activities by working with Commodity/Category Managers and strategic suppliers to build and manage costed BOMs, including component and tooling costs, lead times, and capacity analysis for all new projects and pursuits within e Powertrain and Fuel business units.
C. Represent SCM and participate in supplier APQP activities within project scope.
D. Oversee and track timely execution of supplier tooling kickoffs, development, PPAP, and other launch deliverables.
E. Represent and lead SCM function in PROLaunch and gate reviews, where applicable.
F. Problem solve and deal effectively with roadblocks and risks, developing mitigation plans and escalating as required; identifying and communicating risks efficiently to avoid impact to project deliverables.
G. Drive process improvements within the cost estimating and project management function; streamline the quoting process to ensure turnaround times meet internal and external customer expectations.
H. Work with SCM Program Management and Engineering to understand current BOM product costs, designs, specifications, manufacturing processes, and commodity market drivers.
I. Support development of early concept cost to build new product directional costs and facilitate selection of design development options, especially in support of new program pursuits.
J. Support selection of appropriate components manufacturing type, processes, and raw materials in conjunction with Commodity Mgmt, Manufacturing & Engineering. Coordinate with commodity teams to ensure strategies align with strategic and profit plans.
