This position is accountable for leveraging transportation management knowledge and expertise to effectively execute the delivery of turbomachinery products from various points of origin to customer locations across the world.
The Logistics Specialist II role reports to the Manager, Shipping & Logistics. The role manages all aspects of the logistics function necessary to ensure cost effective, high quality transportation, and timely delivery of material. The actions of the incumbent are controlled by policies and procedures as well as federal regulations and international laws and regulations.
The position major functions include:
- Execution of logistics for complex projects,
- Coordination with logistics suppliers for transportation services,
- Provision of recommendations for revisions to transportation policies or procedures,
- Selecting appropriate suppliers for shipping, export packing, etc.,
- Ensuring proper documentation for shipments,
- Auditing invoices, and
- Problem solving.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Execution of transportation plans / modes for each turbomachinery project including:
- Carrier selection & type
- Freight Forwarder selection
- Brokerage arrangement
- Export Packer selection & coordination
- Permit application
- Import / Export compliance
- Project Tracking
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field or 5 to 10 years of related logistics experience in lieu of a college degree.
- Experience in handling Incoterms and modes of transport (air, sea, land)
- Working knowledge of logistics practices and procedures worldwide.
- Experience in Harmonized Tariff Code Classifications.
- Ability to exercise good judgment in assessing situations and making decisions.
- Experience in continuous process improvement methodologies such as the Six Sigma Methodology
- Planning and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Well-developed motivational and leadership skills
- Proficient in Microsoft 360 and Power BI
- Bilingual (English and Spanish).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Integrity, Emotional Intelligence, Conflict Management, and Constant Stress Environment
- Structured, process-oriented.
