Role Definition
Design, development and testing of electrical and/or electronic components for use within machines and engine systems. Specific component will include operator controls such as joysticks and keypads and other components such as lights and radios.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing compliance with development processes and regulations for electrical and electronic systems and components.
- Investigating and troubleshooting all technical issues related to electrical and electronic systems and components.
- Managing and negotiating with electrical and electronic equipment vendors for the development of systems and components.
Degree Requirement :
Electrical Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering Degree
Beginner experience with experience in Design, Development, and Production of electrical and electronic components.

Electronics Engineering - HTH:
- Basic knowledge of complex integrated circuits.
- Anticipates the challenges and opportunities associated with printed circuit boards.
- Interprets alternative interfaces between hardware and software and associated requirements and considerations.
- Advises on matching methodology, materials and tools to the electronic product that is being built.
- Consults on engineering multiple electronic circuits, components or devices.
- Evaluates the benefits and drawbacks of analog and digital circuits.
- Understands data link protocols such as CAN/J1939.
- Familiar with PWM circuitry, and output signals.
Product Design - HTH:
- Summarizes problems in the technical process and discrepancy between actual products and the requirements.
- Analyzes the effectiveness of the new product design; incorporates advanced research into the overall design.
- Participates in the conception process of a hardware product vision.
- Utilizes design methods to implement the construction of a new design model according to plans.
- Analyzes the configuration of each component in relation to the overall product or product portfolio.
Reliability Management - HTH:
- Selects appropriate tools and methods to ensure reliability expectations in hardware products.
- Participates in product reliability and quality assurance standard processes to meet process demands.
- Conducts performance and reliability testing for a specific hardware product or product group.
- Implements reliability activities and tasks for product development and maintenance plans.
- Analyzes common hardware reliability failures; provides corrective action plans.
Create Test plans to validate components, including electrical, mechanical, and environmental tests, per Caterpillar standards
Mechanical Engineering - MFG:
- Works with basic, routine components and processes of the mechanical engineering discipline in manufacturing.
- Performs basic installation, testing, maintenance and repairs for machines, engines and other equipment.
- Uses software to draft drawings or writes specifications for specific mechanical engineering projects.
- Assists senior staff to resolve unusual mechanical problems; recommends ideas.
- Follows relevant standards, policies and practices in mechanical engineering operations; reports violations.
Supplier Management - MFG:
- Follows procedures in carrying out routine supplier management tasks.
- Uses electronic systems or tools to record/retrieve supplier information and carry out transactions with suppliers.
- Resolves routine supplier issues; escalates non-routine issues up chain of command.
- Researches alternative vendors or suppliers; participates in supplier selection.
- Works with suppliers to ensure that purchases meet delivery date and quality specifications.
