Purpose of the Post To work as a support person for young people and their families including Ukrainian refugees in the broader community in the Bandon area. The worker will co-ordinate activities, organise support and advice and provide guidance while promoting integration. They will work as part of Bandon FRC team to support clients into our complimentary services, along with referring into other agencies as necessary. Overall Purpose of the Job Key duties & Responsibilities We are currently recruiting a part-time Youth and Community Worker to promote integration of the new communities to existing programmes. The post holder will be expected to perform other duties relevant to this position as the post develops. Bandon FRC has a range of activity-based and targeted programmes for young people and their families. Programme delivery and development: · Work with the Ukrainian families and their young people to analyse their current support needs. · Develop and implement supports needed if they do not already exist. · Inform, direct and refer Ukrainian and other resettled people to services already operating in their area · Plan, develop, deliver and evaluate programmes to meet the 5 national outcomes of “ Better Outcomes Brighter Futures” including issue and interest-based activities and programmes. · Create feedback opportunities for young people to have their voices heard · Liaise and signpost on behalf of young people and other members of the community (and their families) to other service providers and third parties as appropriate. · Encourage participation of children and teenagers in out-of-schools activities, particularly activities that include other local children. · Promote self-advocacy in the resettled community and encourage direct contact with service providers. · Support the identification of personal, educational and employment progression routes. Maintain records and files on all projects and update the internal Client Management System
Maintain accurate financial records & work with the team to access and draw down funding
Support and develop new and existing youth groups in the local community

· Support the development and delivery of a program of intercultural activity. · Agree all spending in advance with Coordinator of Bandon FRC. · Provide comprehensive monthly activity reports including identification of challenges and barriers to attaining the overall purpose of this position. · Carry out any other reasonable instruction of management Experience, skills & Abilities Access to own transport is an advantage · Experience of facilitating and engaging with individuals and groups with a strong commitment to community development principles and practice · Compassion and the ability to empathise with people’s life experiences · Relevant technology skills to deliver the requirements of the role · Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-building skills · Ability to develop positive working relationships with a range of groups and agencies · Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team · Proven ability to manage own time, set priorities, plan and organise work to meet deadlines and targets · It is important that the candidate can work independently, is motivated to work with the refugee community, can engage with individuals and groups or has worked with other nationalities previously. It is important that the candidate understands the impact of cultural differences and life experiences Relevant Training or Qualifications Ideally the person will have a 3rd Level or professional qualification in Youth and Community Development. Location of Work Office base: Bandon FRC. There will be expectation to visit areas of the Bandon region to meet with individuals and families. Hours of Work 20 hours per week, predominantly afternoons and evenings with some flexibility required in accordance with service needs. Salary Commensurate with experience, pro rata.
