Lighting Technician

Job Overview:
The Lighting Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and management of lighting systems for various events and performances. This role involves controlling lighting systems, cleaning and restocking equipment, and ensuring the smooth execution of lighting setups. An interest in music is beneficial as it enhances the understanding of event dynamics and enhances the overall experience. All necessary training will be provided to the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Control of Lighting Systems: * Set up, operate, and adjust lighting systems for events and performances. * Ensure all lighting equipment functions correctly and delivers the desired effects. * Collaborate with event organisers, performers, and other technical staff to meet lighting specifications and requirements. * Troubleshoot and resolve any lighting issues during events.
2. Cleaning of Equipment: * Regularly clean and maintain lighting equipment to ensure optimal performance. * Inspect and report any wear or damage to equipment, arranging for repairs or replacements as needed. * Follow standard cleaning procedures and safety protocols.
3. Restocking of Equipment: * Manage inventory of consumables such as confetti and smoke machine fluids. * Restock and organise lighting accessories and supplies as needed. * Monitor stock levels and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely availability of necessary items.
4. Additional Responsibilities: * Assist with the setup and breakdown of lighting systems before and after events. * Stay updated with new lighting technologies and techniques. * Participate in team meetings and provide feedback on lighting setups and improvements.
Qualifications
:* Technical Skills: Basic understanding of lighting systems and controls. Mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance.
* Interest in Music: Knowledge or enthusiasm for music is a plus, as it enhances event coordination.
* Attention to Detail: Ability to focus on details to ensure high-quality lighting setups and maintenance.
* Problem-Solving Skills: Capable of troubleshooting and resolving technical issues effectively.
* Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and move equipment, and work in various environments including potentially high places.
Training Provided:
* Comprehensive training on lighting systems and controls.* Hands-on instruction for equipment cleaning and maintenance.
* Guidance on inventory management and restocking procedures.
* Orientation on safety protocols and event-specific requirements.
Working Conditions:
* Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on event schedules.
* May require working in varying environments, including outdoor and indoor settings.
* Potential for travel to different event locations.
