Chemical Process Technician

This is a startup role with opportunity for career progression as the site ramps and matures. This role has a large scope of responsibilities due to the startup nature of the company in Ireland. A successful candidate should demonstrate flexibility and ability to multi-task. This role will require training at one of our US sites for a minimum period of 2 months
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare chemical solutions according to written specifications, set up and conduct special titration analysis experiments based on engineering direction, conduct accurate sampling of plant effluents supporting discharge permit requirements, and assist in the development of new engineering processes as requested.
  • Perform laboratory tests, titrations, lab solution preparation and metal testing.
  • Responsible for the onsite wastewater treatment system, its operation, to liaise with maintenance to ensure reliability and to report any unsafe conditions promptly. Understand the mechanical/operational side of Filter Press operation and chemical tanks build up.
  • Must be able to handle necessary tools to perform tasks, including a variety of meters, sensors, fluid and or air/gas monitors, and heavy equipment that will need to be towed or moved through the production environment with little assistance.
  • Must be able to perform in noisy, moist, or wet environments with standard protection devices
  • Understand and follow standard operating procedures (SOP) as assigned to the team to assure your job duties are performed in a consistent, reliable and timely manner.
  • Ability to multitask and communicate to management in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of assigned areas.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the senior Chemical process engineer.

  • Must follow all safety protocols onsite.
  • Routine auditing to assure that all chemical containers, including tanks, are properly labelled at all times.
  • Maintain all chemical and laboratory equipment in good condition, and assure that all equipment is thoroughly decontaminated and cleaned after every use.
  • Report all out-of-calibration conditions to the process engineer or perform said calibrations (if applicable) on a timely basis.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the process engineer.
  • Ability to compute percentages, use and interpret graphic representations of data, have knowledge of and be able to apply statistical analysis rules to data such as run rules, upper/lower control limits and trend lines.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to read and comprehend internal documents such as work order travelers, inventory records, logs and general company records.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • a general knowledge around pumps and valves operation as an advantage
  • Ability to follow SOPs.
  • Must be able to multi task.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Degree Chemical engineering Level 6/7 chemical qualification preferred, and/or on relevant job experience.
  • Understand basic chemistry techniques, hazardous material handling and storage regulations.
