Accounting Technician

An Accounting Technician is responsible for managing and maintaining the financial records of a company, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role involves supporting accountants by preparing financial reports, maintaining ledgers, and handling various administrative financial tasks. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Record Maintenance:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date ledgers for the company.
  • Input financial transactions into accounting software.
  • Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
  • Assist in preparing financial statements such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow reports.
  • Conduct basic financial analysis to provide insights for decision-making.
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable:
  • Manage accounts payable by processing invoices and making payments.
  • Handle accounts receivable, including issuing invoices and following up on outstanding payments.
  • Payroll Management:
  • Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll.
  • Ensure all payroll entries are recorded accurately.
  • Taxation Compliance:
  • Assist with tax returns, VAT calculations, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
  • Help prepare necessary documentation for audits.
  • Support Audits:
  • Assist with the preparation of audit files and provide necessary documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Budgeting Support:
  • Assist with budget preparation by providing necessary financial data.
  • Monitor budget expenditures and report variances.
  • General Administrative Tasks:
  • Manage filing systems for financial documents.
  • Provide administrative support to the finance team as needed.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Education:
  • Certificate or diploma in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • 1-3 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Quick Books, Xero).
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to use formulas and manage spreadsheets.
  • Analytical and Organizational Skills:
  • Strong numerical ability with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and detect discrepancies.
  • Communication Skills:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance personnel.
