Wärtsilä Marine Power Solutions RDE, Automation & Controls is specifically looking for a Scrum Master for two cross-functional teams working in our Agile Release Train. In Automation & Controls, we develop and maintain embedded engine control systems for all Wärtsilä engines. Our scrum masters organize the daily work in development teams and coach the teams in relentless improvement.
Position information:
The preferred location for this position is Vaasa, Finland. Also, Turku, Finland could be considered finding the right candidate. We offer the possibility of partial remote work combined with weekly teamwork in Vaasa or Turku.
Your role and responsibilities:
Our current scrum masters often find it rewarding to coach people and see them grow. A big share of the work is to analyse our current ways of working and propose improvements. Implementing these improvements together with the team gives scrum masters an opportunity to see the results quickly.
Your typical day will include:
- Preparation for both team activities and larger events spanning the bigger organization
- Facilitation of team events like dailies, planning events, reviews and retrospectives
- Facilitation of communication channels between developers, other teams, stakeholders, etc
- Research and promotion of agile best practices for application in daily work
- Identification of improvement opportunities in your team and in our development flow
- Lead improvement initiatives
- Working together with scrum masters and agile leaders throughout Wärtsilä to improve our company’s overall performance
- Close communication with stakeholders regarding ongoing, upcoming and past development initiatives
Requirements for the position:
- Certified Scrum Master, Agile Coach or Agile methodology trainer
- At least three years experience as Scrum Master, Team Coach
- Master’s or bachelor’s degree from an applicable area
Qualifications/to be able to succeed in the position we expect you to have:
- Good communication and presentation skills for different kinds of audiences
- Extensive facilitation skills
- Curiosity to learn new things and continuously improve way of working
- Product Owner experience or knowledge in agile development practises or Dev Ops. Especially continuous integration, automated testing and continuous delivery experiences are beneficial
