We are looking for a Project Manager for Aalto Networking Platform
The Aalto Networking Platform team is part of Aalto's Research Services. It supports and brings together the seven key research areas of Aalto University, which are digitalization, health, materials, energy, living environments, arts and design, and business.
The
Aalto Networking Platform
combines the expertise of Aalto's different schools and departments so that Aalto may solve global challenges and build a sustainable future. We are now looking for experts to represent and support especially health, arts and design, materials and business key research areas.
Your duties include
The task of the Project Manager is to act as a contact person in one or a few key research areas and to organize activities that strengthen these key research areas and help smaller research initiatives grow larger. As a Project Manager, you promote the visibility of multiple research areas and cooperation between Aalto researchers, and you also maintain good relationships with external partners. You act as a contact point and mediator for external and internal communication and networking and community building. You help newly recruited professors find collaborators. You also participate in the development of Aalto's multidisciplinary activities in general. You work in a team of platform managers, each of whom has expertise in a few of the abovementioned key research areas, so that in total the team covers all seven areas.
The task may also include other tasks depending on your skills and experience.
- Doctoral degree from one of Aalto University's seven key research areas
- Solid understanding of research activities and its support processes
- Cooperation skills, networking ability and service orientation
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a matrix organization
- Excellent communication skills
- Fluent written and spoken English and basic Finnish language skills (capability to follow meetings and events in Finnish)
You are flexible and open to new things and communicate actively. You can keep many balls in the air at the same time and make sure things get done by the deadline. We appreciate previous experience in organizing events (e.g. being on stage and acting as a host) and maintaining communication channels and web interfaces with the team's Communication and Event Coordinator.

The position is permanent, and your employment contract can be full-time or part-time (50%).
