The research group of Smart Building Technologies and Services at the Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering is looking for a research assistant to work with indoor environment assessment within building sector. The position is part-time and for 6 months. The position is for Aalto University students.
Sleeping is an important part of our life and the quality of sleep has high impact on our health and wellbeing. One of the influencing factors in the quality of sleep is the indoor environment, namely air temperature, air quality, lighting level and noise levels in the bedroom. In this research we want to conduct research on the indoor environmental quality in bedrooms or sleep environment, what impacts people's sleep and what do they do to improve their comfort during sleep. We use the state-of-art equipment for our research, and in the team you would be responsible for managing the gear, and supporting the users together with two other research team members.
Contents of the work

Handing out flyers at given times to the wider audience at Aalto to attract participants

Executing handout and collection of the test equipment utilized by the participants at schedules intervals

Keeping introduction sessions to the participants at scheduled intervals

Answering questions and solving simple technical problems of the participants during the tests (for more complex issues there is other backend helpdesk)

Developing the survey process and tools on the way (analysis of the usability of the tools and progress)

The expected workload is 0,5-1 day per week so that one week in a month is assumed to have more work than other weeks
