Lead Software Developer (Biobank) - Finland
BC Platforms is looking for a new member to join our experienced and highly talented Software Development team that builds software platforms aimed at utilizing genomic and clinical data for healthcare organizations, research institutions, pharmaceutical groups, and laboratories around the world.
Our team works in cooperation with industry-leading cloud partners and life scientists so this is a unique opportunity to learn about the newest trends and technologies inside the multidisciplinary field of HIT (Healthcare Information Technology). We are a diverse community of scientists, bioinformaticians, engineers, researchers, professionals, and skilled specialists that share the same mission for 25+ years across continents.
Your role in our mission:
The Lead Software Developer will design and develop new features and functionalities for our software that we provide to our customers. The whole codebase including frontend, backend, database and integrated services will be covered. In this role one will work in close collaboration with other developers, Product Managers and QA. The focus of the work is on Biobanking solution.
The software is developed with modern React.js framework with a global customer base of researchers, scientists, and other professional level users. As we are working in a highly evolving field of science, we are often addressing completely new challenges and turning complex workflows with big data into simple and beautiful user experiences.

This position is located in the Technopolis Hub in Espoo, Finland as part of our R&D function. The company operates with a Hybrid Work Model, which consists of working at the office as well as remotely at home.

Desired experience and skills for this role:
- BSc. or MSc. in Computer Science, Software Development or similar degree

5+ years of experience in enterprise software development

Capability to understand complex use cases with scientifically oriented professional customer base (research, pharma, bioinformatics) and ability to create user-persona driven software application
- Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot framework for building robust back-end services.
- Expertise in front-end development using React, including proficiency in Java Script/Type Script, state management, and component-based architecture.
- In-depth knowledge of Microservices Architecture and designing RESTful APIs.

Hands-on experience with Spring Security for implementing security best practices, including OAuth2, JWT, SSO, and user authentication/authorization

Experience in Java and UI framework (e.g. React)

Understanding of dockerization and/or Kubernetes

Familiarity with SQL database design and efficient use of it

Excellent English communication skills both in written and verbally

Bonus if you have experience in:
- Knowledge of Biobanking or strong interest in learning about Biobanking (e.g. sample management, consent management, auditing etc. Familiarity with healthcare and omics data
