The Datacenter Construction team is responsible for delivering datacenter capacity for Microsoft’s cloud business. We have a portfolio of complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-million, multi-year datacenter projects.
Within CO+I, the Datacenter Construction team is looking to fill a critical and high-profile role of Datacenter Construction Leader responsible for Construction execution in the Nordics. The Construction lead for the Nordics will report directly to the EMEA Construction Lead and will form part of the DCD EMEA leadership team along with the other Sub-regional leads.
The role of the Datacenter Construction Lead requires strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, ability to self-direct, strong background in design, engineering, controls, and operational requirements and an emphasis on project/construction management, client representation and project services.
Responsibilities
- Drive Safety performance to the highest standards during planning and execution
- Direct execution and planning of multiple, concurrent, large construction projects in the Nordics (both greenfield and fit out)
- Provide organizational rigor and discipline to frame project risk and manage the impacts of change.
- Hold teams accountable for timely accomplishment of deliverables, provide guidance, ensure corrective actions are taken as necessary, monitor metrics, and report progress and risks.
- Proactively monitor internal and external environment to anticipate opportunities to improve on safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance
- Take accountability for predictable schedule delivery and financial outcomes of active projects.
- Assesses the construction industry and the broader business environment to account for market conditions to provide and evolve regional delivery mechanisms that are tuned to the prevailing industry conditions.
- Communicate priorities and drive consistent best practice across construction sites.
- Engage in cross functional sub-regional Engineering, Procurement and Construction planning and execution discussions from early site due diligence right through to project handover. Work closely and in collaboration with the other EPC Sub Regional Leads to provide governance on the projects and guidance to the Team.
- Responsibility for Operations and Critical team engagement to ensure construction delivery does not impact Microsoft’s day-to-day operation of its Data Center fleet.
Qualifications
- 15 years of successful, program level Construction program management and leadership with 5+ years in the Nordics build programs.
- Financial accountability and ability to lead fast-growing programs.
- Leader experiences in recruiting, managing, and developing an organization that promotes diversity and inclusion.
- Proven experience in safety leadership internationally
- Strong ethics in the management of large capital projects
- Excellent communication, leadership and influencing skills.
- Demonstratable ability to use data to influence and drive decisions.
- Experienced in Project Management and Delivery
- Experience in hyper scale datacenter and cloud infrastructure development, large-scale critical environment engineering or construction preferrable but not essential.
- Experience in related sectors is equally acceptable, Semiconductors, Pharma, Oil and Gas, large scale complex infrastructure programs.
