The Department of Food Science is seeking applications for a staff scientist/academic employee (AC-TAP). The position includes scientific, administrative and supervision tasks as well as collaboration with external collaborators and industry.
The position at the Department of Food Science is in molecular biology and omics techniques in the context of food quality and composition. The intended start date for this appointment from 1st of January 2025, or as soon as possible.
Position activities
As an AC-TAP in the Food Chemistry group you will participate in and contribute to research projects, do experimental work, develop and validate analytical methods, maintain equipment and supervise and mentor students, as well as application and publication writing after agreement. Furthermore, you will be involved in bioinformatics, data analysis and reporting, as well as performing general support in lab-based activities in the group and projects you are part of.
Primarily activities:
- Maintenance and management of the mass spectrometers at the department such as LC-ESI/MS Single Q, LC-Triple Q, and MALDI To F, including assistance of users
- Maintain bioinformatic tools related to proteomics and mebolomics
- Management of 1 and 2D gel-based activities and instruction of students
- Perform data analysis and interpretation
- Assist users/students from the group in sample preparation and advanced MS-experiments and associated bioinformatics
- Assist students in development and implementation of control and data collection software
- Participate in teaching of relevant laboratory courses in food chemistry
- Deliver various duties related to the Department of Food Science
Qualifications
We are looking for a service minded individual with a background or education in analytic chemistry and protein chemistry, preferably with experience within hands-on experience in running, maintenance and troubleshooting of advanced mass spectrometry and HPLC equipment and with interest and flair for working and reporting within online systems. We expect a high sense of structure, ability to keep an overview, clear written and oral communication skills, authority in giving instructions when training, and a good command of both the Danish and English languages. A strong background in mass spectrometry instrumentation, software for instrument control and data processing as well as experience in implementation of advanced experiments is preferred.
The candidate will be a part of a team focusing on food chemistry, food composition, food quality, proteomics and peptidomics mass spectrometry e.g. LC-MS, 1 and 2D gels, Maldi To F MS, and ICP-MS, analyses for vitamins, minerals and anti-nutritional compounds, , and which shares some of the daily duties in maintenance of the instrument park at the Department related to protein and analytical chemistry.
