About the role We are looking for a wastewater process engineer that is excited about process optimization and digital solutions for better management of wastewater treatment systems. You will be responsible for developing our expertise area within wastewater treatment processes, manage projects, provide expertise, and engage with clients. You will be a part of a diverse and knowledgeable team of 10 people striving to provide our clients with technical advice and develop new digital solutions for the global market of wastewater treatment. We are based in Denmark, Belgium, USA, and Canada. We work in an international environment and in many locations, which means that you get to apply your skills in a broad spectrum of plants and standards of practice. Besides advisory, we work with digital twins (Twin Plant), process model software (WEST), and automation systems (DIMS). The successful candidate will be interested in applying their real-life experience and technical expertise in an international organization focused on innovation, research and advisory through digital solutions. The main responsibilities and challenges in the job are:
Provide deep process expertise in projects to help utilities on how they can optimize their wastewater treatment plants to meet effluent requirements, save energy, CO2, and costs
Represent DHI in the Danish wastewater treatment sector
Mentor younger colleagues to develop team skills and knowledge
Define and drive innovation and research projects within our GTS-institute activities to make sure we are the front of our field
Network and engage with clients to understand where the market is moving and win projects
Manage projects and ensure that we continuously learn and improve our project execution, by overseeing project portfolio within process optimization
Lead and win proposals
Qualifications and personal skills We are looking for a new colleague who will join optimizing wastewater treatment across the world through our expertise and solutions, and have the following qualifications: Required:
An M.Sc/ M.Eng/ Ph D is required
Minimum of 10 years professional experience in within process optimization
A strong record of providing advisory on wastewater treatment processes and implementing optimization suggestions for clients
Expertise within process control and automation
Good project management and proposal management skills
Ability to present complex technical material to non-experts
Basic knowledge of process modelling considered advantageous
Exceptional skills in written and verbal English
Desirable:
An interest in – and understanding of digital solutions and how they can apply to optimize wastewater treatment plants
An understanding and appreciation for the use of process models
Excellent skills in written and verbal Danish
Personal skills:
Motivated to mentor and develop younger colleagues
Eager to keep learning and develop
