The Town of Channel-Port aux Basques is currently recruiting for a Water Treatment / Distribution candidateto staff our Conventional Water Treatment Plant which uses coagulation, filtration, sedimentation and disinfection. The Town is interested in hearing from qualified individuals who possess water treatment certification and who are interested in a rewarding career in the beautiful Southwest Coast of Newfoundland Labrador. The candidate's primary responsibility is to:
monitor, operate and maintain the mechanical, chemical and analytical systems relating to water treatment at our municipal facility.
responsible for the oversight of operational procedures and ongoing monitoring
operating and maintenance of equipment relating to the treatment of the Town’s potable water supply, and for safely conveying water from the municipal water treatment facility to the Town’s distribution system.
maintaining operational standards / records as well as technical advice relating to improvements and repairs to infrastructure and maintenance of the Town’s treatment systems.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have a high school diploma plus experience with working in water treatment / distribution. A Level II certificate in Water Treatment Operations as outlined by provincial certification guidelines would be an asset
General knowledge of water management systems, Canadian Drinking Water Guidelines and/or post-secondary education in water treatment, engineering, engineering technology or a related field would be an asset.
Candidates must be trained and certified through the Provincial Operator Education certification program and must have experience and knowledge of standard practices, methods, chemicals and equipment relating to water treatment processes and SCADA operations.
Candidates must be capable of working in confined spaces and at heights.
RATE (Hourly): $28.96 per hour after a 3 month probation period as per Union Contract (NAPE 1805). Probationary rate is 85% of the regular rate. JOB TYPE: Full-time permanent, 40 hours a week plus any necessary overtime.
Hours: rotating schedule, which includes weekdays, weekends and being on call.
