Visitor Experience Team Lead

Intent of the process
The results from this competition will be used to fill one bilingual (French and English) indeterminate (permanent) position at Province House National Historic Site beginning in fall 2024.
Duties
As the Visitor Experience Team Lead, your role is to supervise a small operational team and ensure they are working effectively and efficiently within a collaborative environment. You will lead the delivery of the visitor experience at the site, ensuring that visitors feel welcome and are supported in their learning journey as they explore the themes, stories and voices that bring Province House’s history to life.
You will work closely with partners and stakeholders in the operations and delivery of the visitor experience of the site, as well as with a multi-functional Parks Canada team based offsite.
Province House is currently closed for a long-term conservation project and is planned to reopen in 2025. The Visitor Experience Team Lead will take an important and lead role in the re-opening of the site, as we prepare the site for visitors.

These tasks and responsibilities will include working with Parks Canada colleagues, partners and stakeholders to implement the visitor experience program, planning and delivering training, recruitment and onboarding, preparing interpretive and educational materials, and establishing and maintaining operational activities and initiatives.
Work environment
Parks Canada is a unique agency of the federal public service of Canada. By joining the Parks Canada family, you will have a real impact on Canada’s national historic sites, national parks and national marine conservation areas. We are committed to ensuring that all Canadians have opportunities to learn about the full scope of our shared history, including the difficult periods that are part of our past. National historic sites administered by Parks Canada are striving to provide visitors with comprehensive and balanced presentations of Canada’s history that incorporate multiple voices and perspectives.
Province House National Historic Site is located in the heart of downtown Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island (Epekwitk), on the unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq. Province House is seat of Provincial Government, as the home of PEI’s Legislative Assembly. It is nationally commemorated as the venue for the Charlottetown Conference of 1864, which led to Canadian Confederation, and as a fine example of neoclassical architecture. The building is owned by the Province of Prince Edward Island and operated as a national historic site by Parks Canada. Staff at the site work in a collaborative environment with the staff of the Legislative Assembly and the Province of PEI, who occupy part of the building.
At Province House National Historic Site, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on how history is presented and interpreted for thousands of visitors. You will lead a dedicated team tasked with helping visitors create meaningful connections between the past and the present, ensuring that multiple perspectives of the stories of Province House are shared with respect and integrity. If you are passionate about history, education, and cultural engagement, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding position.
