OPPORTUNITY Pals Geomatics Corp. is looking for an ambitious individual who is seeking a Party Chief position with local work in Edmonton. The position offers a balanced work/life ratio, competitive compensation and consistent year round work. Reporting to the respective Department Manager in the Legal Surveys Division, this position will be responsible for performing field survey work on urban and rural properties including residential house stakeouts and real property reports, commercial and industrial developments, large scale residential subdivisions, and condominium projects. At Pals Geomatics, you will use Trimble hardware and Trimble software, as well as our in-house customized tools and systems to perform these surveys in a cost effective and accurate manner. As a multi-discipline firm of over 90 staff, including 6 Alberta Land Surveyors and 2 Canada Land Surveyors, we have dedicated most of our efforts serving the municipal, construction, resource development and housing sectors. RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and perform various surveys with or without the help of a Survey Assistant as required. Some of the duties include: o Evidence searching and assessment o On-site calculations o Using robotic total station, GNSS, digital levels and scanners o Performing residential house stakeouts, commercial construction layout, subdivisions, RPR/Topos, Condo surveys
Physically fit and able to perform tasks such as (but not limited to):
Lift loads up to 50 lbs.
Use a 12 lb sledgehammer.
Use a Hilti Breaker for up to 30 minutes at a time.
Dig holes using a shovel or a digging bar in varying weather conditions including ground, for depths of up to 1 metre.
Walk long distances carrying loads up to 20 lbs over varying terrain.
Place numerous spikes up to 12” long or 4’ lath using a hammer.
Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Work in accordance with the company Health and Safety Policy and Procedures.
Responsible for the use and care of appropriate survey equipment and vehicles.
Maintain supplies and resources to ensure field availability.
Deliver leadership and mentorship to Survey Assistants working with you.
Ensure that Survey Assistants are completing tasks in a timely and safe manner.
Travel out of town within Alberta may be required occasionally.

QUALIFICATIONS
A Geomatics/Civil Tech Diploma or Engineering Degree (or equivalent experience) is preferred.
Minimum of 4+ years of survey experience in residential and commercial construction, municipal and oilfield surveying (patent and crown lands), control surveys, topographic surveys, construction layout, boundary surveys, etc.
An understanding of part 2 evidence and re-establishment methods as well as re- establishment of part 3 survey monuments is an asset.
Valid Class 5 driver's license.
Well-versed in the technical operation of a Total Station and GNSS technology.
RPAS license and certification is an asset.
Safety Certificates (CSTS, First Aid, WHMIS, Ground Disturbance etc.) is required, and will be provided as necessary.
An aptitude to deliver projects within the required time allocations.
