Student Assistant (Up To 2 Positions) - Faculty of Education
The UPEI Faculty of Education is seeking up to two education students to help facilitate an early childhood program which is part of the Literacy and Numeracy Outreach Project.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Participate in training and program development sessions
-
Plan and deliver arts and play-based, inquiry-led activities to help boost literacy and numeracy skills in children aged 2 – 8 years
-
Work closely with families to foster a sense of community and a supportive learning environment
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful candidate(s) will be enrolled in a UPEI undergraduate program
- Previous experience and or training in early years and early childhood education
- Knowledge of early numeracy and early literacy development
- Understanding of social and emotional learning
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with a team
- An understanding of play pedagogy, holistic education and active learning environments would be considered an asset
- A Bachelor of Education degree will be considered an asset
Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
