Under supervision of the Site Administrator, this position plans, selects, schedules, implements, and evaluates leisure activities to be delivered at leisure facilities in order to provide a broad range of market driven opportunities for the public.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepares program plans for leisure activities delivered by either the Department or in cooperation with external agencies in accordance with the program planning cycle.
- Assists with preparation of a yearly and seasonal, program and rental schedule for each site.
- Assists with the selection, recruitment, scheduling, performance assessment, development, and supervision of program staff.
- Coordinates and facilitates leadership training programs for instructors, staff, and volunteers.
- Coordinates facility and program requirements for various events delivered by external agencies at the various facilities.
- Prepares information, for promotional use, about activities delivered by the Department and external agencies, and rental opportunities, available at each facility.
- Evaluates the quality of programs delivered in order to maintain customer satisfaction.
- Assists with the facilitation of public participation processes to document the preferences and priorities for leisure activities and services provided by the Department and external agencies.
- Assists with the preparation of reports and analyses of activities, usage, customer satisfaction, and policies.
- Assists with preparation and monitoring of the program and rental budget.
- Provides interpretation of Department policies and procedures for the public and staff as it pertains to program and rentals.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Graduation from a two-year, post-secondary program in recreation and leisure.
- Four years’ related experience in the design and delivery of aquatic, fitness and/or recreation programs, including one year supervising program staff.
- Possession of valid recognized standard first aid and CPR certificates.
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record
- A vehicle suitable for use in the performance of duties is required
- Knowledge of the theory, philosophy, standards, trends, and practises of recreation program planning, particularly in municipal setting.
- Knowledge of principles, methods and application of evaluation related to program design and delivery, facility operation and customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to direct, supervise and train staff.
- Ability to express ideas and concepts effectively, orally and in writing, to a variety of audiences, including communicating technical information.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff, peers, supervisor, volunteers, and the public.
- Ability to gather and analyse information related to the improvement of program design and delivery.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in program design, delivery, administration and evaluation.
- Demonstrated skill in budgeting for programs.
- Skill in the operation of a computer with word-processing and spreadsheet software.
Acceptable current Criminal Record Check (CRC) upon offer of employment.
Weekly Hours: 40
Salary Range: $64,308.48 to $70,901.04 CAD per hour (2023 rates)
