Come join a team of highly skilled individuals who are dedicated to developing technology that will detect disease and save lives.
Breathe Bio Medical is a medical technology company focused on developing a simple, accessible and non-invasive breath test for early-stage breast cancer. Breath analytics involves the collection, processing, and analysis of breath samples to identify biomarker patterns associated with specific diseases. Breathe Bio Medical is located in Moncton, New Brunswick and its US subsidiary is located in Boston, Massachusetts. Our team at Breathe Bio Medical consists of individuals who embody our core values, which are, communication, integrity, innovation, collaboration, and accountability. One day, detecting disease will be as easy as breathing. Student interns are a vital part of Breathe Bio Medical ’s development. Interns are recruited to work on specific projects based on their skills and education levels. Projects will allow interns to complete tangible deliverables that both advance the companies development goals and compliment the students’ learning objectives. Internship Details: Start Date: Monday, January 6, 2025 End Date: Friday, April 25, 2025 Rate: $20-24/hour Hours/Week: 37.5 Number of Weeks: 16 Reporting to: Senior Physicist Note: This position requires the intern to work in the Moncton Laboratory. Remote work is not possible and travel expenses will be covered. Breathe Bio Medical ’s Technology: Breathe Bio Medical ’s technology has sensitivity to detect volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in breath down to the parts per trillion. The platform is comprised of three (3) proprietary devices, a Breath Sampler to collect breath, a Spectrometer to process breath samples and a machine learning algorithm that analyzes raw spectral data from the Spectrometer to identify the presence of disease. The Breath Sampler is a portable tabletop device used to collect alveolar samples from subjects quickly and efficiently and concentrate onto a thermal desorption tube, which can then be transported to a central lab for analysis. The Spectrometer is a highly sensitive device into which a breath sample-filled sorbent tube is loaded. The Spectrometer uses three advanced infrared lasers to probe the VOCs’ optical absorption properties. Responsibilities:
