Assessment accommodation
When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.
OPEN TO STUDENTS CLOSE TO GRADUATING
Students are encouraged to apply should they be completing their degree requirements from a post-secondary institution in a field that focuses on understanding and assessing human behaviour by December 31, 2024 or a degree from a recognized institution by December 31, 2024 along with acceptable correctional experience.

The above note applies for screening purposes only. The essential education requirement would need to be met in order for an appointment to be made.

APPLICATION PROCESS
It is the responsibility of the applicant to clearly outline how they meet each of the screening criteria (i.e. Education and Experience Qualifications) by responding to the screening questions in the online application. Please note that it is NOT sufficient to only state that the requirement is met or to provide a listing of current responsibilities; rather, the applicant must provide concrete examples that illustrate how they meet the requirement. Of note, the minimum experience requirement is of approximately three to four months. Lack of EXAMPLES and DETAILS may result in your application being rejected.

Your resume will be used as a SECONDARY SOURCE OF INFORMATION and must accurately reflect your employment history and support your qualifications. It is therefore inappropriate to only state “refer to resume” in response to screening/text questions.

Applicants are encouraged to APPLY NOW, as applications will be screened and assessed on a periodic basis for appointment consideration.

For screening and assessment purposes, all communications related to this selection process will be by email. Therefore, candidates must include a valid email address in their application. It is recommended to include a secondary valid work email, if applicable. It is the candidate's responsibility to ensure that this address is functional and that it accepts messages from unknown users (some email systems block these types of email) and frequently check their inbox and JUNK/SPAM folders. It is also the candidate's responsibility to ensure accurate contact information is provided and updated, as required, by communicating to the email indicated below.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Parole Officers are essential to fulfilling the Correctional Service of Canada's (CSC) mission of enhancing public safety by actively encouraging and assisting offenders to become law-abiding citizens, while exercising reasonable, safe, secure, and humane control. They play an active role to help offenders reintegrate into society.

With more than 20,000 employees, CSC plays a key role in contributing to public safety, working around the clock at our 43 correctional institutions, 91 parole offices and 14 community correctional centres across Canada. Join us to help change lives and protect Canadians!

The Parole Officer’s responsibilities include guiding the progress of offenders through a progression from most restrictive to least restrictive controls and from institutions to community supervision. They ensure that legal and policy requirements for reintegration are met as well as manage the reintegration of offenders throughout their sentences while trying to maintain public safety.

Furthermore, they are responsible for assessing, analyzing and recommending potential transfer and release suitability of offenders as well as observing and interpreting the behaviour of the offenders/parolees.
