Job Summary: Janitors play an important role in the up-keep and cleanliness of the client’s rooms, common areas and the overall facility. Job Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Perform regular cleaning of client bedrooms, nursing units, clinical areas, waiting areas (lobby), lounges, office spaces, staffroom, restrooms, ceiling vents, and corridors, maintaining a clean, tidy, and hygienic environment. 2. Use appropriate cleaning chemicals and supplies in accordance with established procedures to effectively clean designated areas and surfaces. 3. Transport trash and hazardous waste to the designated disposal area as required. 4. Ensure timely replenishment of supplies and promptly communicate any inventory needs to the office manager, maintaining a sufficient backup supply at all times. 5. Identify and report safety hazards to the office manager as necessary to uphold a safe environment for youth and staff. 6. Adhere to all infection control protocols, including proper handwashing techniques, standard precautions, and isolation precautions as applicable. 7. Wash bed linen according to prescribed standards and neatly stack it in the linen closet for easy access. 8. Report any lost and found items found in client rooms to the office manager promptly. 9. Conduct deep cleaning of client rooms prior to allocating them to new clients, ensuring thorough cleanliness and readiness. 10. Support the maintenance lead by assisting with snow or ice removal and other gardening tasks as directed. 11. Thoroughly clean and sanitize the dining area following breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner services, maintaining hygiene standards. 12. Offer assistance with moving heavy furniture or equipment if required to facilitate operations. 13. Other duties assigned within the scope of the role as needed. Qualifications & Requirements: o Completion of secondary school is required. o Previous commercial cleaning experience is an asset. o Certification for housekeeping room attendants or similar certification is an asset. o Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License. o Valid First Aid Certificate - Emergency First Aid – Community Care. o Must consent to a criminal record check. o Good working knowledge of Coast Salish teachings is an asset.
