NATURE’S ROUTE FARM
Full Time, All Year
We grow a wide variety of great tasting vegetables on our beautiful farm overlooking the New Brunswick / Nova Scotia border. We are CERTIFIED ORGANIC! Our work is varied with awesome Spring and Fall Days working outside, hot summer days, cold wet Fall days, days working in the greenhouse or tunnels and days washing and packaging vegetables indoors all year long. We have mechanized many aspects of the farm and are looking for a farm hand who is able to operate equipment as well as integrate with the farm crew for hand work.

· . 5 years of experience operating farm tractors is desirable. We hire for attitude.
Main Tasks
· WEED, HARVEST, WASH and PACKAGE VEGETABLES BY HAND.
· Operate Farm Equipment including tractors, trucks, forklift along with various implements. This includes backing up trailers and wagons, safe operation around workers, and loader operations. Currently we have no equipment with air brakes.
· Safely conduct routine maintenance including lubricating equipment and basic mechanics.
· Do other hand work including: transplanting, watering transplants, pruning and trellising, and preparing vegetable seed beds, picking rocks, washing and sorting vegetables and packing vegetables.
· Communicating with your supervisor about daily activities, issues, etc.
· Communicate when you are not able to work during normal work hours. For planned events two weeks notice is required and for illness as much notice as possible is required.
Schedule
The work week will be 4-5 days per week from 8am-5pm Monday to Friday. There will be times when we have to work earlier and later and/or during the weekend to meet production needs. Winter months are more flexible but in general would be similar.
Organic
Nature’s Route Farm is organic. Anything that goes on/in the soil and contacts food must meet organic certification requirements. This includes fertilizer, seeds, soil amendments, equipment cleaning supplies and so much more. If you are unsure of something, please ask.
Benefits
Nature’s Route Farm operates under an equal pay philosophy. Our equipment operators, welders, mechanics and hand labour staff are all critical to our success. Accordingly, all workers are paid minimum wage plus a taxable living allowance.
· . While we need people full time year round for vegetable growing, washing and packaging; flexible work hours and seasonal work is available. Work schedules will be written and fixed with changes requiring two weeks of notice to change.
· . Minimum wage: $15.30 per hour. Good workers are eligible for a performance bonus depending on how profitable the season is and their performance;
· . There is a taxable allowance of $55 for all workdays more than seven hours.
· . All benefits are in accordance with provincial standards including workers compensation (Worksafe NB), employment insurance, CPP, vacation pay…
· . Access to farm vegetables.
· . We strive for all staff to consistently have consecutive 2 days off per week.
