W&J Construction Ltd. is a leader in Multifamily Construction across Western Canada and has over 35 years of experience in land development and new construction with its roots originating in Victoria. W&J has been expanding throughout the Southern to mid Vancouver Island with our current focus on Langford and North Cowichan. W&J Construction Ltd. is seeking an experienced full time Excavator Operator to join its team. The operator is responsible for operating a variety of different-sized excavators, ranging from 5-ton to 55-tons, in a safe and appropriate manner. Responsibilities and Duties
Operate various excavators to excavate foundations, parkades, grade sites, install civil works, demolish buildings, work with blasters, load trucks etc.
Excavate, load, and grade earth, rock or gravel during construction and related activities
Complete civil projects such as excavate and install sewer/ storm manholes, water chambers, pipes, fire hydrants, retention ponds etc.
Perform daily inspections and safety checks.
Clean and maintain equipment as scheduled.
Work in accordance with corporate/governing safe work procedures.
Attend and participate in all toolbox meetings, topics, concerns.
Abide by the requirements contained in W&J Construction Ltd. safety manual.
Requirements
3+ years of operating experience
Civil excavating experience
Ability to fluently read, write and speak in the English language.
Physical stamina to withstand long hours of operating, Ability to see, hear, walk, stand and lift up to 50lbs
Knowledge of equipment safety
Knowledge of and ability to perform routine equipment maintenance
Ability to work diplomatically and professionally with others
Work safely around hazards associated with the trade
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $25.00-$40.00 per hour Additional pay:
