Environmental Health & Safety Manager

ROLE: Environmental Health and Safety Manager (EHS)
REPORTS TO: VP of Human Resources
LOCATION: Burnaby, BC
We are looking for an Environmental Health & Safety Manager to join our HR team! This role is primarily responsible for working with the business to develop, implement, and manage the Environmental and Health and Safety programs!

The leader for EHS will be the key lead for developing, implementing, and overseeing EHS policies and programs. EXPERIENCE
  • You have at least 5 years or relevant experience working in a similar capacity
  • You are a designated Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)
  • Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science or Engineering or related fields
  • Experience in regulatory compliance and environmental auditing
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing environmental policies and programs
  • Experience with sustainability initiatives and resource efficiency projects
  • Familiarity with environmental management systems (EMS), such as ISO 14001
NICE-TO-HAVE
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate/Diploma
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar project management certifications
  • Certified Environmental Professional (EP)
  • Experience working in a food manufacturing environment.
THINGS YOU WILL DO…
  • Health & Safety: Oversee monthly Health & Safety Committee meetings. Facilitate Health & Safety policies and programs. Work with Supervisors and Managers to ensure the completion of comprehensive and results-focused incident/accident investigations.
  • Human Resources: Create Training & Development standards. Manage provincial-related claims. Develop and monitor Return to Work Programs.
  • Environmental: Develop a baseline and explore environmental sustainability initiatives throughout the business. Lead environmental programs, projects and budgets for the business. Track compliance and performance metrics.
  • Development: Conduct GAP analysis of the current programs. Create and manage the EHS programs. Monitor, coordinate, and implement effective environmental safety and health programs.
  • Coordinate: Work with Supervisors and Lead Hands to develop and deliver training and information sessions. Work in partnership with team members to identify and manage risks and develop safe work practices.
  • Technical Resource: Coach team members on Health and Safety policy and procedures. Follow up on sustainability opportunities with projects. Responsible for the effective delivery of all safety training, including orientations, etc.
  • Reporting: Provide regular feedback on project status updates. Work with Finance to document incremental cost saving on WCB, WSIB and CNESST premiums. Provide monthly safety reporting.
  • Communications: Liaison with all departments/managers and employee reps. Create and maintain effective and progressive safety communications vehicles.

  • Available to work flexible shifts and occasionally work various hours, as the job requires
  • Required to travel to multiple provinces to visit manufacturing plants and transportation depots regularly (up to 30%)
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $109,000.00-$120,000.00 per year

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree (required)
