MLTC was created by nine First Nations located in north-west Saskatchewan who have constitutionally recognized aboriginal rights and Treaty Rights under Treaties #6, #8 and #10. The primary purpose of MLTC is to serve those First Nations in their aspirations for cultural, economic and political autonomy. As a private sector employer engaged primarily in promoting and serving the interests of the member First Nations, MLTC asserts its right to provide preferential treatment to First Nations people, giving them priority in decisions on employment matters such as hiring, and this can extend to measures such as opening competitions only to First Nations people.

MLTC Health and Social Development Department is seeking dynamic, motivated individuals to fill one (1) full-time, permanent & one (1) full time, term position of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Coordinators.
The EMR Coordinators will conduct activities that help support the Meadow Lake Tribal Council and the Meadow Lake First Nations in managing health data, focusing on the administration, implementation, monitoring, and training of the Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
This position requires strong clinical EMR experience and understanding point of care, support based and secondary utilization of EMR systems. Assisting with program maintenance, training capabilities and extensive knowledge of the operation of computer programs (EMR and Microsoft office).
DUTIES (include but not limited to):
  • Ensure that the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system serving both MLTC and MLFN’s are operating and functioning properly by developing/facilitating regular EMR training and providing consistent support to MLTC and each MLFN community along with relief staff as required.
  • Administer and monitor the EMR user accounts (open, suspend and delete accounts)
  • Work within individual health centers to establish and continually improve health center workflow related to EMR and collection of reporting data.
  • Work with the Health Information Systems Manager to develop training materials, support in template development, reports and quality improvement and utilization management initiatives.
  • Work with internal team members and external stakeholders to ensure all EMR related concerns and issues are resolved.
  • Collect and analyze data to ensure that reporting requirements as outlined in the Block Funding Agreement, Community Based Reporting and Annual Report are met.
  • Assistance when requested in conducting internal audits through the EMR system to verify proper practices are being followed.
  • Research and develop policies related to the EMR and the delivery of care utilizing the EMR.
  • Assist with revising program templates and as new programs come on stream – lead the template development and ensure program and administration compliance reflects the current health priority indicators and results.
QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Minimum:
  • Grade 12 or Equivalent, with knowledge in areas of Electronic Medical Records.
Preferred:
  • Certified in Health Information Management (C.H.I.M.), Health Information Management Diploma, Health Record Technician Certificate, Degree in Information Systems, or Equivalent Education.
Other:
  • 2+ years clinical or practical experience working with Electronic Medical Records Systems.
  • Office administration experience preferred.
  • Must be familiar with TELUS Health EMR, template development and report generation within EMR
  • Knowledge of health management and health information technology
  • Knowledge of Meadow Lake Tribal Council organizational structure and functions.
  • Knowledge of HIPA regulations and Privacy & Security Policies.
  • Proficient with computers, i.e., Microsoft Office programs; Health Information Systems, etc.
  • Preference will be given to individuals who speak either Cree or Dene.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and possession of a valid driver’s license.
