Position Overview As a member of the Diamond Team, the Diamond Specialist will report to the Team Leader & Senior Manager and work a 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off rotation (2x2 rotation) at the Ekati mine site. The Diamond Specialist is responsible for degreasing product and assisting with the diamond defalsifying process in the Sort House at the Ekati Diamond Mine.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Defalsifying process : removing diamonds from the concentrate and separate them from the false diamonds
Acid washing : working with chemicals to remove dirt from diamonds
Sizing : size the diamonds based on carat weights
Ensure product is collected and processed withing deadlines while maintaining accuracy to required parameters with zero diamond loss
Grease table : remove product by scraping grease from tables and re-applying new coat of grease to recover diamonds. Degrease the product with hot water and rinse/clean the product
Sort materials or products for processing, storing, shipping, or grading;
Ensure product is collected and processed within deadlines while maintaining accuracy to required parameters;
Always protect the safety and well-being of yourself and your co-workers. Follow all Company specific safety protocols and Occupational Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Education/Experience
High School Diploma or GED equivalent;
High level of attention to details.
Computer literacy with willingness to learn new computer skills;
Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team to achieve best-in-class efficiency and productivity;
Self-motivated with excellent time management skills and the ability to manage competing demands and meet deadlines;
Strong attention to detail with the ability to communicate clearly.
