Job Summary
The Construction Estimator will be responsible for analyzing construction blueprints and specifications to accurately estimate materials, labor, and equipment required for a construction project. This role plays a crucial part in determining project costs and ensuring profitability.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for projects
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for accurate estimates
- Analyze project requirements and provide value engineering suggestions to optimize costs
- Prepare bid packages and submit proposals to clients
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing
- Monitor industry trends and market conditions to ensure cost estimates are current
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction estimating or a related field
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations
- Proficiency in project management principles
- Familiarity with Bluebeam or similar estimating software is preferred
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities
