Community and Family Services Program Coordination

The Community and Family Services (CFS) office exists to meet human needs and be a transforming influence in our community.
The Program Coordinator sources and secures resources (funds, human, in-kind) to support and sustain the programs and ministry of The Salvation Army Moncton CFS.
The Incumbent plans and facilitates the effective coordination of the CFS program and its activities, according to the organization’s standards and ministry guidelines. This role will organize and conduct the annual Christmas Food Hamper, Christmas Kettle Fundraising Campaign, toy program, special projects, and fundraisers to support program needs.
The Program Coordinator will also network with government and community social services providers to coordinate resources for the benefit of clients and program and provide client referrals.
Terms of employment:
  • This is Full-Time contractual position with intent for permanency.
  • Hourly wage: $23.25
  • Working schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Coordination:
  • Coordinate/organize/develop ongoing and seasonal programs such as Christmas Hamper, Toy Distribution, Summer Camps, Community Dinners, drop-in programs, community kitchen etc.
  • Assist the Director with ongoing strategic planning to ensure programming reflects client need as these may evolve in our changing socioeconomic climate
  • Work with the Director to ensure that programs (including program reviews, inspections, and audits) meet contractual, legal and internal requirements.
  • Coordinates Annual Christmas Kettle Campaign:
    • Responsible for chairing Christmas Kettle Campaign planning committee.
    • securing strategic kettle locations and liase with vendors.
    • manage the kettle schedules and service groups.
    • oversee the pick up and counting process.
    • manages Moneris services aspect of the campaign.
    • works with Director to plan Campaign Kick – Off Event.
Administration and Finance:
  • Maintain accurate records of client information on The Salvation Army’s computer system while maintaining confidentiality and providing statistical reports.
  • Maintain accurate written records, logs of activities, including activity reports and statistical information.
  • May prepare and submit grant/funding applications; complete timely, accurate reports as required.
  • Receive, record, secure monetary and non-monetary donations; ensure information is forwarded to Corps Officer for the issuing of donation receipts for income tax purposes.
  • Perform other position related duties as required.
Community Relations:
  • Network with Salvation Army, government, and community social services providers to coordinate resources for the benefit of clients and program.
  • Represent The Salvation Army Community and Family Services within the community, as directed by the Director of Moncton CFS.
Volunteer Coordination :
  • Provide direction and support to volunteers and ensure that they work together to achieve the purposes of the organization
  • Responsible to coordinate, review, and assign weekly workload for all Community and Family Services volunteers
  • Submit strategies and recommendations for volunteer development to Corps Officer/Director
  • Monitor volunteer safety practices in compliance with health and safety standards, and prepare, submit, and act on incident reports, under the authority of the Director; providing calming intervention, as required
  • Report any safety hazards, maintenance problems, equipment or supply needs to the Director
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
  • Post-secondary certificate or diploma in Social Work or other related field
  • Safe Food Handling and First Aid/CPR Certifications would be an asset.
  • Non-violent crisis intervention training would be an asset.
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:
  • Minimum of two (2) years of prior related experience, including, experience in a specialized social services program; inclusive of supervisory
  • Supervisory/management skills and the ability to lead, coach and motivate.
  • Experience dealing with office equipment and tools.
  • Knowledge of community-based resources and experience networking with government and social service agencies.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to complete assignments and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Lead by example, by demonstrating a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and be flexible in the face of change.
  • Proficient in working in a computerized environment must have strong skills using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
  • Screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.
  • Valid New Brunswick Class “5” Driver’s License, personal vehicle required and insurance, current copy of driver’s abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
  • Ability to provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required
