Casual Transportation Associate Food Security Viewfield · Esquimalt, British Columbia The Casual Transportation Associate is an operations and logistics position within the Food Security department, responsible for the collection and transportation of product for distribution through The Food Security Distribution Centre. The individual must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, as they will be interacting with our valued grocery partners, donors, members of the public, fellow staff and volunteers across 3 locations and several departments to ensure the efficient collection, organization and redistribution of product. The Transportation Associate must possess and demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure effective operations with our staff and volunteers, specifically the Warehouse Manager, Food Rescue Manager, and Guest Services Coordinator.
Duties & Responsibilities
Be an ambassador for The Mustard Seed Street Church in the community
Safe and courteous operation of The Mustard Seed’s vehicles
Health and Safety – work practices and cleanliness of vehicles and equipment
Responsible for the well-being and safety of all staff, volunteers, clients and donors during pick-ups and deliveries
Collaborate with Warehouse leadership team and colleagues to ensure efficient collection and distribution of product through established methods
Completion of both truck inspection/trip sheets and route Check-list daily
Ability to manage time on route and complete route in a safe and timely fashion
Attending and participating in all relevant Mustard Seed Street Church staff meetings and training opportunities available
Participate in employee and program evaluation process
Other duties as required (ie occasional warehouse support)
Qualifications
Required – BC Driver’s license and acceptable abstract
Required – Experience driving 5, 3 & 1 ton trucks; experience driving a Sprinter Van; experience in vehicle inspection and completing inspection sheets
Asset– Current forklift and power jack certification with experience completing inspection sheets (or a willingness to obtain)
Warehouse experience an asset
Food Handling Safety Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

Typical shift start: 6am or 7am

Must provide completed Medical Assessment form from your Medical Practitioner
