A Bench Operator is a position within our Sub-Assembly Repair team, Blending, and Epoxy teams. These individuals perform a variety of tasks to repair engine components and prepare them to be inspected and installed on the engine. Specifically, repairs are performed on PT6, JT15D and PW100 engine components in accordance with Pratt & Whitney Canada Overhaul manuals and Engineering Repair Instructions (ERI's).
Position Accountabilities
- Disassemble inserts, pins and sleeves.
- Prepare and install sleeves and inserts using freezing and heating techniques.
- Perform flush flow and pressure tests in accordance with P&WC manuals.
- Control and issuance of materials (inventory).
- Disassembly, replacement and final assembly of various engine parts.
- Repair and installation of various engine parts according to ERI or manual specifications
- Test and inspect fuel surge accumulator in accordance with component maintenance manual
- Perform rear housing PCU port repair
- Detail finish (deburr) parts after machining, utilizing hand and rotary powered tools
- Blend and polish to remove nicks, burrs and scratches from components
- Required to conduct routine preventative maintenance according to schedule.
- Maintain tools and equipment used in this department.
- Perform all other duties as necessary.
- Training will be provided.
- This position will be subject to shift-work and overtime.

Qualifications
- Minimum grade 12 with related post-secondary education or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 1-2 years' experience with related procedures is considered an asset.
- Ability to use hand tools
- A strong mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and fine motor skills are essential.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Good written and oral communication skills required.
- Motivated individual who is goal orientated.
Working Environment
An individual in this capacity must be aware the position will involve:
- Safety: Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required. This includes but is not limited to safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, mask and/or fitted respirator.
- Weight Handling: A requirement to have sufficient strength to safely maneuver all parts requiring processing (using available hoists, etc.) without risk of personal injury or damage to the parts. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.
- Tools and Equipment: PPE required i.e. safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves and any other PPR that is required to perform tasks in the area.
- Work Conditions and physical requirements: Combination of standing, pulling, bending, crouching, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing, grasping, sitting, working with computers and using specialty tools. Occasionally working with vibration, hot ovens, and chemicals. Must be willing to walk to various areas of the facility throughout the day.
- Worksite Environment: Working sometimes in a shop environment that contains humidity, chemicals and odors.
