Assistant Foreman

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Tundra is excited to announce an opportunity for an Assistant Foreman - Southman East, based out of the Waskada region. This role focuses on providing hands-on leadership and technical guidance to ensure efficient workflow on-site.
In this position, you will assist the Foreman in overseeing daily activities and managing a team of operators. Your responsibilities will include monitoring operations in production facilities, such as battery operations, compressor stations, and storage facilities. You will also help in training and mentoring junior operators, fostering a collaborative and safety-focused work environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, communication, and employee relations skills, remaining calm in stressful situations. They should be detail-oriented, capable of problem identification, and solution implementation. A strong safety conscience and mechanical aptitude are essential, along with effective time management and prioritization skills. Additionally, the candidate should excel in team building and motivating employees.
You should possess a solid understanding of production processes and exhibit strong problem-solving skills. This role requires the ability to work independently while also being a key part of a multi-disciplinary team. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
:

  • Supervise and oversee all Operators within the designated area, ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Serve as a relief for the Production Foreman, stepping in to lead operations as needed.
  • Act as a Relief Operator when required, providing support wherever necessary.
  • Actively promote and participate in safety practices, fostering a culture of safety within the team.
  • Assist the Foreman with performance reviews and address employee concerns effectively.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, identifying and resolving problems to maintain optimal workflow.
  • Supervise construction crews, ensuring compliance with project specifications and timelines.
  • Monitor production metrics and report on performance against targets.
  • Handle invoicing and coding responsibilities to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Assist in budget development for the area, monitoring controllable costs to drive efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and process improvements.
  • Contribute to the business development team by providing insights and support on initiatives.
  • Share insights and participate in discussions during Safety and Operational meetings.
  • Monitor the training levels and professional development of Operators to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Assist with scheduling and vacation coverage to maintain adequate staffing levels.


WHAT YOU NEED:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Commitment to obtaining certifications in the following areas:
    • H2S Alive Certificate
    • First Aid/CPR
    • ATV Safety Course
    • WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System)
    • TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods)
    • Ground Disturbance Level 1 & 2
    • Problem Solving & Decision-Making Training
    • Wellsite Supervision Training
    • Confined Space Entry Training
    • Leadership Training
  • Completion of SAIT Production Field Operator Training:
    • Levels A and B must be completed within 18 months of enrollment.
    • Levels C and D are optional.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • A minimum of 5 years of operational experience is required.
  • Strong foundational mathematical skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills is an asset.
  • Mechanical aptitude is highly regarded.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of battery facilities and water injection/disposal systems.
  • Familiarity with compressors is an asset.
  • Ability to interpret flow process drawings, P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and emergency shutdown keys.
  • Experience with SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems.
  • Basic knowledge of Production Accounting is considered an asset.


OTHER DETAILS:

  • Must reside within a 45-minute drive of the assigned field.
  • Must adhere to facial hair standards for respiratory protective equipment as mandated by Enform.
  • Availability for on-call duty is required.
  • Must be able to drive to various work sites using company vehicles, including ATVs and snowmobiles.
  • Must be prepared to work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift items weighing 25 kilograms or more.
  • Exposure to potential hazards, including toxic chemicals like hydrogen sulfide.
  • Must be able to work under stress and manage emergency situations.
