Eligibility
- An undergraduate degree and/or post-secondary training in environmental science, social science or a similar field of study is preferred. Relevant work experience may be considered.
- General knowledge of the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Act, as well as Yukon First Nations and First Nation Agreements, is required.
- Experience collecting, organizing and analyzing data is required.
- Experience working in a First Nation government is considered an asset.
The Assessment Officer, (https://yesab.ca/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Assessment-Officer-Designated-Office-Job-Description.pdf) reporting to the Manager, Designated Office, is part of our dynamic assessment team and will be responsible for:
- Conducting environmental and socio-economic assessments
- Preparing detailed evidence-based recommendation reports that present assessment review outcomes, including identifying environmental and socio-economic effects of projects
- Ensuring that the Manager of the Designated Office is thoroughly briefed on all assessment details
- Remaining up to date on new and emerging trends of assessment methodology
- Conducting independent research on assessment topics
- Ensuring that participants understand the assessment review process and how to best participate in that process
- Engaging with communities, Proponents, and First Nation, Federal and Territorial Governments
